Tron Ares Review<
Reviewing the latest 2025 Tron
Tron Ares is getting a ton of flack right now from critics and I wanted to share my opinion as more of a casual neutral movie goer. I want to note, I am going to approach this from an unbiased point of view regarding Jared Leto’s recent concerns/controversies. This movie is as if the Barbie movie was more masculine - it’s about a program/non human turning into a human and makes the audience wonder what is a human? It does touch on these mortality like questions briefly such as feelings and death. As a movie I would rate this very high as it blends the entertainment value and story very nicely however I do not believe it’s as good as Tron Legacy. Before diving in, I want to mention that I saw this movie in 4DX so that may effect how I view entertainment value Story: 8/10 The movie has a load of layers that were peeled however the peeler wasn’t detailed or as sharp as it needed to be for depth of what it was unpacking. The attention to what it was unpacking had some attention but not nearly enough time or depth that it warranted. Despite comments, the layers it did touch on though were naturally very impactful as us humans tend to no matter what feel a way by them. My overall main complaint was the lack of building or touching of the previous Tron Legacy movie - Legacy was an excellent movie and deserved either more attention or building upon which I imagine with how the ending turned out will be in the next movie. One thing I would like to tell Jared Leto & his writers good job on is how relevant they made the movie, approaching the subjects of AI, Gen AI, Tech bros - just felt all too familiar in this tech focused age. Visuals: 10/10 This was an excellent movie visually, it struck a beautiful balance between CGI and reality and I didn’t feel there was anything too much or lacking in this movie, I would say it was visually more impressive than Tron Legacy however very different vibes - more leaned towards Blade Runner 2049 Sound: 9/10 Nine inch nails actually did a very good soundtrack and overall was an excellent experience, ironically I listened to the soundtrack without the movie and I wasn’t that big of a fan but with the movie, phenomenal. The only reason it is not a 10 is simply because Daft Punk was simply a bit better especially for the vibe. Acting: 8/10 Jared Leto did a very good job of being an AI as he already had practice in Blade Runner 2049 which he did very well in here. There were some weaker links but I’m having a hard time deciding if that was because of acting ability or just how the roles were laid out. Issues- The main issues I had with the film overall are really just related to a few points the movie didn’t cover - for example - where is Sam Flynn? Why is Eve Kim CEO? Encom went from software to games in no time! Why does Encoms CEO, presumably an extremely wealthy and powerful woman have zero security in the city. Why did they not have an equal to Dillinger cybersecurity force for their data? Etc. I am sure they knew these plot holes existed however the film studio made the conscious choice to not address them as it would create even more confusion or drag the story too much. I do overall wish they touched on the what is going on In the Tron cyber world more but that would diffuse the whole point Overall, I would 100% watch again in 4DX, it was a very entertaining movie which is what watching movies is all about for this casual movie enjoyer! I would give it a 3/4, regretfully with the poor press and lack of hype this may be the last of the Tron movies. Sign my guestbook to keep in touch, hopefully to add RSS soon.
